Tell Colombia to investigate the brutal murder of Fernando Flórez!
On 27 September 2013, the Colombian trade unionist, Fernando Flórez, Transport Secretary of CTC-Valle, an affiliate of the ITUC and TUCA, was murdered. The Colombian government must take immediate measures to investigate this crime.
The trade unionist Fernando Flórez Viveros, President of the Expreso Palmira trade union, a FESINUVALC affiliate, and Transport Secretary of the CTC Valle branch affiliated to the ITUC and TUCA, was murdered in his home in Cali City, on 27 September.
This attack is clear proof that the right to life of Colombian trade unionists remains under constant threat.
The Colombian government must immediately implement the necessary measures to investigate this crime in order to bring to justice those responsible for this brutal murder.
It is the government’s primary responsibility to safeguard the lives and the physical integrity of all Colombian citizens in accordance with the international human rights treaties ratified by Colombia.
Take a stand against violence in Colombia and call on Juan Manuel Santos to urgently implement the necessary measures to guarantee fundamental rights and the legitimate exercise of trade union freedom of association.
